Synthesis, antibacterial evaluation, crystal structure, molecular interaction analysis and DFT calculations of novel N-hydroxy-2-(4-methylbenzamido)benzamide

In this study, an efficient strategy for the synthesis of a new benzamide derivative N-hydroxy-2-(4-methylbenzamido)benzamide was reported by using readily available reagents, and its antibacterial activity against bacterial strains investigated. This compound crystallized in monoclinic system with P21/n space group. Its unit-cell parameters were = 7.5103(2) Å, b 11.7991(3) c 15.2645(4) β 91.907(2)° Z 4. Crystal packing stabilized hydrogen bonds π-stacking interactions van der Waals interactions. Hirshfeld surfaces their associated two-dimensional fingerprint plots utilized to analyze intermolecular crystal structure. addition, electrostatic surface potential (ESP) generated density functional theory.
